A new kitchen with the old cabinets!
A New Kitchen Without Expensive New Cabinetry
This client didn’t want to invest in new cabinetry in the kitchen of her 1930’s tudor home. So we saved a boatload by having the cabinets painted a fresh warm white and updating the hardware to a contemporary brushed nickel bar pull.
Sometimes you might want a new look in your kitchen without spending tens of thousands of dollars. It’s possible!
In this space we updated around the old but newly painted and brightened-up cabinets. A new black granite countertop, stainless steel under mount sink, and chrome gooseneck faucet really brought the 80’s era kitchen into the 21st century.
Brass lighting offered the little bit of bling that my client loves and the mixed metal look that I think adds layers of interest in a room.
The neutral subway tile in the smaller size adds interest and sophistication to the space.
It’s true that painting cabinets can be expensive (although not as much as replacing). My trick and tip is to find a reputable contractor who works alone and does not have a brick and mortar building. For years these are the types of contractors I have used and they are always a lot less expensive than a larger company. You can find these on Angie’s List, Thumbtack, or ask your friends for a referral. For the last several years I’ve used RAC Remodeling in the Detroit area. Rob Clark is affordable and good at what he does including painting and remodeling.
